    About the Workshop

    Karen Giventer, who speaks frequently on the subject of successful job searching, will present a workshop focusing on the skills and techniques that can help you achieve job offers for either contract or permanent positions. Even if you are currently employed or a seasoned job-seeker, you are sure to learn additional job-searching techniques that will be very helpful in your next job search.

    The workshop focuses on tangible techniques and includes the following topics:

    Job Seeking — Finding Job Openings that are Right for You

    • Getting and staying motivated, confident, and focused
    • Cold calling and calling contacts (including sample calls to help build confidence)
    • Working with staffing agencies, job boards, and company websites
    • Your online presence
    • Networking (including sample conversational interactions that produce results)

    Job Landing — Securing the Offer

    • Resumes that work
    • Effective interview techniques
    • Managing phone screens and Skype interviews

    Coffee and doughnuts will be available at 8:45 am, and a light lunch will be available from 12-12:30.

     The workshop is interactive with discussions and exercises, and includes the following topics:
