Hello Everyone,
Welcome to summer in New England!
We have moved into Summer, our relaxed mode (programs and virtual meetups on hold), which for me, means planning for our upcoming InterChange Virtual Conference to happen on October 8, 2024. I am personally excited to be in the planning stages with our Council members and chapter volunteers, focused on delivering an exceptional, educational and informative experience with networking opportunities.
We will be sending a call for presentations within the next few weeks.
May was our STC Summit and I was privileged to go and attend educational courses, lightning talks, network and enjoy some “off time” playing card games and socializing with other STC members from across the country. It was an exceptional experience as well as fun! Meeting our leaders in person and learning about the association’s future was a big bonus.
My personal short-term goal is to pass the Foundations level of the CPTC exam, and the prep course was well attended, led by STC educator from the Rochester Chapter, Ben Woelk. I also attended the prep course for the Practitioner level with educator extraordinaire Dr. Craig Baehr, and it was a challenge! Thankful for the great instruction, advice and collegial atmosphere that encouraged the goal of gaining the credential. I have a new respect for the CPTC certification and it is not easy! I encourage any new tech writer to consider the credential, and any seasoned tech writer to challenge yourself. It will definitely “up your game” and the other win is, you will meet some wonderful like-minded people.
I would also like to officially welcome Clara Eusebi! Clara is a software engineer who has taken on the role of Website Manager for STC New England, which was handed off by longtime valued volunteer and stellar STC member Sharon Metzger. Please welcome Clara to our Chapter as a member and valued volunteer as she transitions under Sharon’s tutelage. You can reach out to her on her website at CaseTekDesign.com.
I enjoy hearing from you all, and thank you for reaching out with queries, praise, suggestions and connecting with myself and the Chapter. We are here for you. As always, feel free to reach out to me at president@stcnewengland.org.
Best, Carolyn
