Less than two weeks until InterChange 2022

InterChange 2022 is coming up in less than two weeks, on Friday, 7 October, and honestly, I can’t wait to participate!

The region’s premier technical communication conference, InterChange is created by and for STC New England members but open to STC members and practitioners everywhere. This year’s theme is “Now, New, Next: Exploring the New Normal in Technical Communication.” It’s a full-day virtual conference offering topics in two tracks: tools and best practices, and professional development.

After more than two years of isolation behind masks and closed doors, InterChange will be a good break from the work routine, a chance to “sharpen the saw” with new knowledge in a friendly atmosphere, and an opportunity to catch up with friends and professional colleagues. The InterChange selection committee has picked a nice blend of familiar and new presenters from all over the world.

Jack Molisani, an Amazon category best-selling author, generous sponsor, and no stranger to conferences, delivers the keynote address on “Taking Control of Your Post-Pandemic Career.”

To highlight some of the sessions that catch my eye:

  • Christy Tucker shows us how she weaves SME stories into effective learning
  • Li-At Rathbun emphasizes the most important skills for working well with others
  • Selvaraaju Murugesan describes the important opportunity for collaboration between support and documentation teams
  • Anna Gasparyan tells us how to harness developer tools to author documentation
  • Darren Fennessy and Lluís Cavallé team up to offer tips on onboarding new team members

Finally, Ann Wiley chairs an all-star panel—Jamye Sagan, Christina Myer, and our own John Garison—in a closing discussion of “Tech Comm Challenges and Opportunities,” inspired by questions posed by New England Chapter members.

Following the closing session, we will have a drawing for some nice prizes (you’ll have to be online to win). I told someone that a virtual conference has everything but the coffee, but I’m mistaken: there just may be a few Dunkin’ gift cards in the mix.

I’m looking forward to seeing the presentations, and seeing you all again! Go to Eventbrite to register.
